I.                Missions' m; J$ v3 R2 [* D0 R+ C! |
The Shanghai International Magic Festival & International Magic Competition is an event opening to the world for the international cultural exchange. Its missions are to demonstrate excellent magical arts from all countries, developing Chinese magical arts, training new magical art professionals and promoting the magical exchange between China and other countries., G( ^8 X, P3 }7 V4 P. m! v2 ^
II.             Date and Locations for the Festival
The 5th Shanghai International Magic Festival & International Magic Competition is to be held on November 8-11, 2007. The location is in Shanghai, China.
III.          Organization Structure
The Organizing Committee of the Shanghai International Magic Festival is established in charge of the practical arrangements and administrations.( \. s' L2 I& R9 x' i! O+ E
The Jury Committee of the International Magic Competition is established. It consists of domestic and overseas judges invited by the organizing committee.

V.                About the International Magic Competition6 X- H& S0 P( m6 y8 ~
1)    Competition Rules
l       Stage magicians from any countries or regions may apply for participation.  d4 a7 p6 L6 [
l       The organizing committee will decide the final applicants and invite no more than 30 competitors, based on the application materials.' C" P7 Z/ k: T- e8 A; F: \% S
l       There are no age restrictions but the number in each group should be no more than 3.
l       The contesting performance time should be between five to fifteen minutes. The time violated participates will be ruled out. The warning signal (yellow light) will be given at 14 minutes 30 seconds. The stopping signal (red light) will be given at 15 minutes.
l       Contestant may ask for termination for performance due to mistakes or accidents. As a result, he/she is ruled out for this competition.
l       Contestants should be well prepared for the competition. They are responsible for any accidents due to the short preparation by their own.
l       Any accidents causing the performance termination due to the mismanipulation of the stage equipments including sound and lights will be evaluated and the performance may be restarted.

3)    Application Procedure
l       Applicant should fill out the application forms, with the name and the length of the contesting performance included.* Z5 V* A8 k. }) u! D
l       Applicant should provide the video record of the contesting performance, the stage light and the sound requirements as well as the weight and dimensions of the equipments. The participated item can’t be altered after the confirmation from the organization committee. It has to be re-applied if the change is necessary.3 l1 Y. O. U( M% F+ N7 D( ?
l       Applicant should provide 4 recent color or black-and-white photos, including 2 passport photos (5x5CM) and 2 stage photos (13x18CM—20x25CM).
l       The application materials should be sent to the organizing committee office of the China Shanghai International Magic Festival no later then July 30, 2007.$ v$ A. e) g* I2 Y% ?' {' B

l       The organizing committee will decide on the contesting programs, based on the applications. The results will be announced by written notice to the applicants before August 30, 2007.
l       If there is any inconsistency between the performed program and the planned program confirmed by the organizing committee, the contestant will be ruled out for competition." C9 O6 u) B0 o/ J& P
l       The application materials, photos and videos will not be returned.8 J/ @3 N0 x8 G: a
4)    Celebration Performance+ S+ Q$ _7 O- U- R: e- {; ~- _
l       The winners and their assistants should agree to participate in the various celebration performances which are organized by Organizing Committee with free of charge, including at the closing ceremony. Shows will be chosen among the winners through the organizing committee.
5)       The Sequence of the Contesting Programs8 a4 B; F  W% o5 h
The contest sequence, the stage walking and the lighting adjustments will be arranged by the organization committee. The contest sequence will be informed to the participants at registration. It can’t be altered by to the participants.: |4 }4 w& |- z, v: Z/ @  M
6) Stage
l       No flame or explosive is allowed on the stage. Naked performances are forbidden. If the program really involves flame or smoke, a permission of the organizing committee is required.- n  Y6 T, H- R, P
l       Stage technical information is attached in a different folder.0 C5 k2 w5 x& W/ J
7) Costumes and Equipment. ~7 S$ m" N8 B3 C  a$ }. w+ p
Contestants should prepare their own costumes, cosmetics and equipments.
8) Music
l       Contestants should bring their own accompanying music. The music tapes should be clearly marked with the contestant’s name, performance name and the length of performance, and should be delivered to the organizing committee office during the registration.
l       The music can be in DAT, CD or MD.
l       It is suggested that contestants bring an additional music tape as back up.9 W5 q& T& D: ]9 @
9) Judgment( G2 E8 u( m8 H7 h3 C
l       The jury group consists of Chinese and foreign experts invited by the organizing committee. The judgment is based on the following items:
A.Conception  B. Skills    C.Originality D. Art E. Performance Result
l       The jury regulations are attached in a different folder.
l       The scores given by the jury for the contestants are absolute and final.0 s  i3 ~; w7 Z6 j+ o+ d' ~
10)  Fees! N0 j3 F/ |- d- B; f! s
l       International travel expense and equipment shipping are the contestants’ own cost. The organizing committee will responsible for the contestants’ and their assistants’ room and board during their stay in Shanghai.
l       The application fee is $100, paid at the registration.3 m- ~& O3 u( O$ H# h5 U
11)  Rights' u' t# G" F4 G! l  n$ t# d+ k
l       The organizing committee will arrange for the contestants to participate in such promotion activities as interviews and photographing. There is no charge for on site video recording and live TV broadcasting.. r$ y$ @3 O. p) B
l       The organizing committee should protect the rights of the contestants. The photos and the video recording materials mentioned above can only be used for program promotion. The TV materials can only be broadcasted through the TV programs owned by the organization committee. It can’t be sold or exchanged to other TV stations. They are prohibited for commercial publication.3 @/ V1 P" K  d+ r9 g
12)  Insurance
Insurance is the contestants’ own responsibility. The organizing committee will not be responsible for any injury, accidents or property loss during transportation or during competition.4 H; j' e/ q/ D
VI.             Gala Performances) Y4 ]6 p% e( _& W( Z
The organizing committee will invite world famous magicians to participate in the performances during the International Magic Festival, as well as the open house events available to the residents in Shanghai.0 k% J+ N3 r5 E& {  X+ F, h
VII.          Seminars
Seminars and exchange activities on the Chinese and foreign magical arts will be held during the International Magic Festival.9 D1 F: L: [7 J) G: ], V) Q- S
VIII.       Magic equipment Show and Sales
Magic equipment show and sales will be held during the International Magic Festival.( V8 s* W; |' N
IX.             If there is any change about the sponsoring and organizing institutes of the festival, the organizing committee will announce before each festival.
X.                If there are different understandings of this Rules and Regulations, the Rules and Regulations written in Chinese version will be the authority. The right for interpreting this Rules and Regulations belongs to the organizing committee of the Shanghai International Magic Festival reserves.
